IntroductionΒΆ

The ability to identify, authenticate, and authorize devices in the network is essential. The Conscia Device Portal will help ease the onboarding of new devices in the network.

The Device Portal is a web-based frontend for onboarding and maintaining of IoT-like devices in the network. The application depends on an existing Cisco ISE installation, and for advanced features such as Identity PSK, a compatible wireless system, such as Cisco WLC, is also a requirement.

IoT-like devices are defined as devices which do not support 802.1x or certificate based authentication, but instead rely on MAC-address based authentication for wired networks or identity or group PSK key authentication for wireless networks. Features and functionalities Cisco calls MAC Authentication Bypass (MAB) and identity PSK (iPSK).

Employees responsible for maintaining and onboarding IoT devices are not necessarily Cisco ISE or network administrators, so onboarding devices needs to be intuitive and straightforward; this is where the Conscia Device Portal will help.
